Stainless steel and how to mantain it
The stainless steel at GAVA plast is used mainly for external fittings such as grab bars, handles, security sets and rosettes. Stainless steel is among the most durable materials used for external fittings. The surface is significantly more abrasive resistant than aluminium, for instance.
Stainless steel is durable, keeps its good look for a long time, and the surface resists corrosion quite well. But with lack of care, stainless steel will also show signs of surface corrosion which could subsequently penetrate deep into the material. Oxidation of the surface results from adverse environmental influences.
The main causes of corrosion on stainless steel surfaces :
- Iron filings impinging on the surface (such as sparks from an angle grinder during construction).
- Other chemicals deposited on the surface (such as adhesives, cement and chemicals used in construction).
- Cleaning the surface with products that have come into contact with iron.
- De-icing salt coming into contact with it.
- Environmental influences (such as in industrial neighbourhoods, proximity to busy roads, high humidity in air containing salt, chlorine or sulphur)
This rust is called flight/flying rust which appears on stainless steel surfaces by the action of wind.
Maintenance kit for stainless steel materials Advantages:
